When learning a new programming language, one of the first programs learned almost invariably does only one thing. It prints “Hello, World!” In that spirit, I introduce my website.
For those that are curious, the name of the school, Kalopedia, comes from two ancient Greek words. The first, “kalos,” means beautiful in the same way that someone is beautiful because they are good. The second word, “paideia,” refers to the education of young people in being good. You could say that the second word amounts to the teaching of the knowledge, manners, and customs necessary to be successful. Put the two words together, and it means beautiful education.
Technically, the word should be “Kalipaideia;” however, “paideia” is commonly anglicized as “pedia.” Additionally, many of the Greek roots of English words also suffered from vowel changes that would have changed “kali-” to “kalo-.” As I have always been one to change concepts and ideas to make them my own, Kalipaideia became Kalopedia—my own website to promote beautiful learning.
